Our approach to long events

Training for the last hours, not only the first

Long events are often decided late, by fuelling, pacing and how well you hold your power when you are tired. We plan your season around your event and use your power data, and testing where it helps, to decide what to train.

  • Fuelling

You practise your race fuelling on long training rides, so race day holds no surprises.

Race-day fuelling is part of Performance; a full nutrition strategy (Hexis included) is part of Full-Service.

  • Pacing

A pacing plan from your power data and the course, so you do not spend too much in the first hours.

Race strategy with Best Bike Split, MyWindsock and course analysis for your main events on Performance.

  • Durability

Training for power late in a long ride, not only fresh. Your coach checks it in WKO5 and adjusts the plan.

  • Heat

Heat training and core temperature data for hot events. Jānis is a CORE certified coach.

Heat training and core temperature are part of Performance and Full-Service.

  • Recovery and your week

Long rides take time. The plan fits around work, family and travel, and recovery data shows when to hold back.

Recovery monitoring (sleep, HRV) is part of Performance and Full-Service.

  • Testing

Optional INSCYD and lactate testing in person in Spain, at our testing locations or at a camp, used where it helps your training decisions.

Performance also reviews lactate samples you take yourself, twice a season.

What our athletes say

Discipline, motivation and the drive to get stronger: that's where having the coach at your shoulder and hearing the right words really helps. And most importantly, even after ten years I'm still improving. Not only does it feel that way, the results and of course the numbers show it too.

The training process was very clear and purposeful: the direction was always clearly set, and any problems or mistakes were solved quickly. I really value the individual approach and the data analysis, which helped me see my progress, and the chance to try different disciplines, from TT to gravel, which kept training varied and interesting. Working together inspired me to get more involved in the cycling scene and to ride with stronger athletes.

The training is well thought out, individually tailored and focused on results. Dana helps you not only get stronger on the bike, but also train smarter and believe in your own abilities. I definitely recommend her!

Questions

Ultra-endurance coaching: common questions

Do I need a power meter?

Yes. A power meter is required for all plans: your coach plans your training and reviews your rides from its data.

Which plan covers fuelling and heat?

Performance includes race-day fuelling, heat training and core temperature. Full-Service adds a full nutrition strategy, with Hexis included. On Core, nutrition is available at additional cost.

I have never done a long event. Is this for me?

Yes. Every plan is built around your current level, schedule and goals. Core is best suited to athletes who already have some training experience.

Do I have to come to Spain?

No. Coaching is delivered remotely through TrainingPeaks and direct contact with your coach, for athletes worldwide, in English, Latvian or Russian. Only lab-style testing, which is optional, is done in person in Spain, at our usual testing locations or at one of our camps.
